Compare the whole installation, not just the tank
A low equipment price can omit the work that changes the project.
Separate equipment from site work
Ask for an exact model number, tank or tankless capacity, quoted efficiency information and the currency. Then list labour, delivery, removal, permits, inspection, access work and commissioning separately. A line labelled installation can hide differences between two proposals. Keep both the inclusion and the exclusion beside each item.
Make differences visible
A conversion proposal may discuss electrical supply, gas supply, venting or drainage. Do not treat a missing line as a zero-dollar promise. Ask whether it is included, excluded or subject to an assessment. Give each quote a date and an expiry, and record who may authorize changes. Your worksheet can total entered prices without claiming they reflect current local market rates.
Keep the decision record
Store the proposal, the model specification and the contractor response together. Compare the same scope before comparing the totals. Confirm taxes, deposits, timing, licensing where required and the party responsible for the permit. A HAUSE enquiry gathers the questions; it does not accept a quotation or book work.
